Patch Care Guide | EMBRO BOF

A little care can help your embroidered patch stay looking good for longer. Whether your patch is ironed on or sewn on, please follow these simple care tips.

Before Applying

Make sure the fabric is clean, dry, and suitable for heat if you plan to iron on the patch.

For delicate, waterproof, nylon, stretchy, textured, or heat-sensitive fabrics, sewing is recommended instead of ironing.

After Applying

Let the patch cool completely after applying heat. Avoid pulling or stretching the fabric around the patch right away.

Washing

For best results:

- Turn the item inside out if possible
- Use gentle washing
- Avoid harsh scrubbing directly on the patch
- Air dry when possible

For items that are washed often, sewing around the patch edges is recommended for extra hold.

Backpacks and Bags

Backpacks and bags often use thicker, coated, waterproof, or synthetic materials. For these items, sewing is usually the best option.

Jackets and Clothing

For cotton or denim-style jackets and clothing, iron-on backing may work well when applied correctly. For heat-sensitive fabrics, sew the patch instead.

If the Edges Lift

If the patch edges begin to lift, you can carefully press again if the fabric is heat-safe. For a stronger long-term hold, sew around the patch edges.
